Students who fail to return the cap, gown, and tassel will be responsible to pay full, current replacement prior to receiving their diploma.

Graduation Ceremony

GRADUATION CEREMONY

EGCS conducts a graduation ceremony once a year. The ceremony is held in a traditional format and students are required to wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. The ceremony is held at the end of the school year, typically during the last week of school. Regardless of when students graduate during the academic year, they are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. EGCS has a strong tradition of student speakers and performers during the ceremony. If students are interested in speaking or performing please inform the ISP teacher or the office.

Unfortunately, not all students will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students who do not complete ALL graduation requirements prior to the ceremony will not be allowed to participate. Students who complete the GED or CHSPE are not eligible to participate in the ceremony. Also, students who receive disciplinary actions during the last 30 days of school may not be eligible to participate in the ceremony. Students with outstanding book fees and other holds will not be allowed to participate. Additionally, graduating students with holds will not receive their diploma or official transcripts until the hold is cleared.

Graduation Planning

GRADUATION PLANNING

During the first ISP appointment, ISP teachers complete a transcript analysis and develop a graduation plan for 12th-grade students and outline a semester of academic course work on the master agreement for all students. ISP teacher are required to communicate the results of the transcript analysis and graduation/semester plan to parents/guardians, and students. Part of the graduation planning process includes the following:
  • Determine a comprehensive or continuation diploma pathway (11th- and 12th-grade students).
  • Complete a transcript analysis being sure to verify Speech, and Technology proficiencies.
  • Create a graduation timeline and semester academic plan.
  • Register students in ISP or workshop support courses depending on the need of the student.
  • Assign and assist with the completion of the 11th- and 12th-grade college/career project.
  • Assign and verify students complete 30 hours of community service while enrolled.
  • Students requesting to graduate early must petition to EGCS administration for approval (see ISP teacher or administration for details).
