Mrs. Lisa Valenzuela

Lisa Valenzuela

School Counselor
504 Coordinator
916- 714-1653 x51001

Lisa Valenzuela has been a School Counselor since 2007 although, she’s been working with the youth since 2000, as a group home counselor and a youth detention probation aide. During her undergraduate education, she majored in Administration of Justice and Sociology. By the time she earned her bachelor’s degree, she realized school counseling would be the perfect career to make a positive impact on young people. She earned a master’s degree in Counseling Education and landed her first school counselor position in EGUSD shared between two sites prior to EGCS. Working in this setting gives her the opportunities to serve students whether it’s educating them about academic options, supporting their social-emotional needs, or assisting with college-career planning. Helping students and families, and seeing our students make progress, keeps her flame burning. She is grateful to work at a small site with supportive individuals, it’s like her second home. Mrs. Valenzuela is also a proud mom of her daughter, Camila, her most valuable teacher of love and patience. She enjoys exploring nature, outdoor adventures, different foods, and crafting with family and friends.
